Stream Restoration
This was a large 26-acre site nestled between the Town of Colwood and the Esquimalt Lagoon Bird Sanctuary that was being developed as a high-end condominium and townhouse project. The Acacia Team was tasked with refining the original design and constructing the landscaping and first phase of an extensive riparian corridor that was to ultimately connect to the Esquimalt Lagoon Estuary and encourage Salmon to swim upstream and spawn. This was the spine of the development and had numerous ponds, meadows, contemplative seating areas, and walking trails that led down to the bird sanctuary and historic orchard that was renovated to allow residents to truly enjoy nature’s bounty on the site. The work was carried out during one of the coldest and wettest winters on record, which made the already highly technical and detailed project that much more challenging.
